Our Story

Chris and I have been dating since Nov. 12, 2005. We met our senior year at Washburn University, when my sorority was partners with his fraternity for Homecoming. We talked while working on the float and hung out at his fraternity house, and I asked him to my sorority's formal a few weeks after that (with the help of a friend). We started dating officially about a week after that.

The Proposal

We got engaged on Mar. 12, 2009, which was my 25th birthday. We went out to eat for my birthday, and Chris asked me on the way home if anything exciting or surprising had happened on my birthday. I told him that it had been an okay birthday, but nothing too terribly surprising or exciting had happened. When we got home, he proposed on the front steps of our apartment! I said "yes", cried and hyperventilated for a few minutes, and then we called all of our family and friends to share the news. We had been talking about getting engaged for a while, but I didn't think it would happen yet, so I was definitely surprised!
